Relations and Functions

1.Relations

A relation from a set A to a set B is a subset of the Cartesian product A × B. It describes how elements of one set connect to another.

2.Functions

A function from A to B is a relation in which each element of A is associated with exactly one element of B.

3.A simple example

If A = {1, 2, 3} and f(x) = x², then f maps each input to one output: 1 → 1, 2 → 4, and 3 → 9.
